Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television journalist, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her professional career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. She was a reporter for the CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. After two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and participated as a panelist at the TV program Meet the Press. She served as a panelist in the presidential debates in 1988 with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards for journalism excellence, including her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell first covered the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both the terms of President Ronald Reagan. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal as well as fiscal tax reforms, as well as arms control. Mitchell traveled together with Ronald Reagan several times to summits and debate issues including the Iran Contra scandal.
